Saving a Choking Child

We repeat this in EVERY course we run: coughing and choking sounds are a good sign when a child is choking. Being able to make a sound or cough means, you can also breathe. Coughing is a defence mechanism of our body and it means, it’s working. You need to resort to more drastic measures when you don’t hear any sounds anymore. The Heimlich Manoeuvre is the measurement of choice, and just as stated in this article on NorthJersey.com, you can start using it on children that are older than one year.

You are not sure how the Heimlich Manoeuvre works? Why not join one of our upcoming First Aid courses to learn it, you will even be able to practise it.
