First Aid for Nannies
Parents entrust their children to nannies and au-pairs leaving them with the responsibility to keep infants and children safe. In case of emergencies, nannies must be able to handle even the most stressful situations and be prepared to administer appropriate first aid measures. This can only be achieved by regular, high-quality first aid training.
Children are lively and playful and being injured can be part of this. Injuries and conditions can range from harmless ones to serious and life-threatening situations.
Therefore this course covers three main topics: life-saving skills, first aid skills and an introduction to home remedies for daily ailments such as cold and coughs, ear infections and fever.
During the life-saving part, participants will learn to recognise and manage unconsciousness and choking and to perform CPR on infants, children and adults.
The first aid component introduces participants to all basic first aid measures including wound care and severe bleeding, seizures and head injuries, burns and scalds.
This course will also cover ticks, Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Encephalitis TBE (in German Frühsommer-Meningo-Enzephalitis FSME). Ticks transmitting Lyme Disease are found in all of Switzerland, ticks transmitting TBE are found in specific areas, of which Basel and surrounding is one of those.
Upon successful completion of the practical and written assessment, participants will gain an internationally valid certificate, which is valid for two years.
The course fee is CHF 160 per person and is due in cash in the course.
